Missed yesterday’s All Things Considered April Fools story? They’ve now posted it up on their website. I was completely taken in… and I’m not proud of that. The story claimed that the Library of Congress is transferring years of cassette, 8-track, CD and MP3 onto durable 78rpm shellac records. On the face of it, doesn’t it sound plausible? After all, all those floppy discs and computer tapes are pretty much useless now, but punch cards still hold their data!
