A Tale of Two Logos

LOVE this new logo for Science Channel. Immediately, at first glance, it says Science!

But this one... hmm. I can only assume the brief was "make a logo as it would be perceived by an animal who can't read."
I swear, every time I look at it, I think it reads "Anal Planet."

Agreed. I find that sideways M baffling. It's not doing anything for me.

By the way, do you read the Brand New blog? Cool site to geek out on logos. I think that's where I first saw the new Science Channel one.

I like the science channel one too, but the ANIZAL PLANET has to go. That's what it looks like to me--ANIZAL.

It sounds like some crazy world where all the inhabitants are hooked on ANIZAL, the new drug all the cool aliens are talking about. Hahahaha!
